Rocky Mount, N.C. - The North Carolina Wesleyan men's soccer team honored its 2017 Senior Class on Saturday afternoon at Scalf Field before tallying a 2-0 shutout of USA South foe LaGrange College. Playing their final regular season home match, head coach Frankie Taal recognized seniors Chris Higgins, Alex Magner, Daniel Thomas, Larry Sawyer, Jordan DavisCade Lowry, and Shemm Ritchie prior to kickoff.

Sawyer got the Bishops going at the 16:28 mark when he delivered a perfect through ball to sophomore Baboucarr Njie for the shot from 20. Njie helped make it 2-0 five minutes later when he provided a near identical pass to Kobi Boompong for the shot. Wesleyan would take its 2-0 lead into the half, and neither team would score in the final 45 minutes of play.

Wesleyan out-shot LaGrange 27-1 on the day with Higgins earning the shutout in goal. The Bishops also held a 6-0 advantage in corners.

Panther keepers Cory Aycock and Bonner Brooks combined for 10 saves in net, while the LaGrange defense kept the damage to a minimum by forcing the Bishops offsides 11 times in the match.

Wesleyan has now won 10 straight matches to move to 11-5 on the season and 9-1 in conference play. The Bishops travel to league rival Methodist University on Wednesday night for a 7:00pm match in Fayetteville. With a win, the Bishops will capture the USA South Regular Season Championship out-right, while a tie will secure at least a share of the league crown for a second straight season.
