Fayetteville, N.C. - For the second straight season, the N.C. Wesleyan men's soccer team has captured the USA South Regular Season Championship! The Bishops did so with a thrilling 1-0 win at rival Methodist University on Wednesday night.

After fighting to a scoreless draw at the break, junior Sheriff Secka netted the only goal of the match in the 57th minute when he took a feed from sophomore Kobi Boompong and beat MU keeper Jonathan Moore, who had come out of the box. Freshman goalie Jordan Williams made the 1-0 lead stand for the remaining 33 minutes, finishing with a pair of saves en route to his sixth shutout of the season.

The Bishops held a slim 11-9 edge in shots in the match, while the Monarchs (12-5-1, 8-3 USA South) owned a 4-1 advantage in corners.

Wesleyan completes the regular season with a 12-5 overall record and extends its winning streak to 11 matches. In league play, the Bishops followed up last season's co-championship with an out-right title this fall, finishing 10-1 in USA South action.
