Wesleyan Soccer to Face Oglethorpe in NCAA Opening Round

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The N.C. Wesleyan men's soccer team learned on Monday that the Battling Bishops will be heading to Lexington, Va. for the opening rounds of the 2017 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship on Saturday and Sunday. NCWC will take on the Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe University on Saturday at 11:00am on the campus of Washington and Lee University. Winners of 14 straight matches, the Bishops enter tourney play with a 15-5 overall record and will be making the program's first NCAA appearance since 2008.

Saturday's second match pits the University of Mary Washington against host W&L at 1:00pm. The winner of Saturday's contests will then face off on Sunday at 1:00pm in hopes of securing a Sweet 16 appearance.

Ranked #24 in D3Soccer.com's latest poll, Oglethorpe brings a 16-2-1 record into tournament play, most recently capturing up the Southern Athletic Association title on Sunday. Saturday's tilt between the Bishops and Petrels will be the second of the season -- Oglethorpe defeated the Wesleyan 4-1 at Emory's Sonny Carter Invitational on opening weekend.
