ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The North Carolina Wesleyan College Men's and Women's Soccer programs have added new assistants for the upcoming 2018 season.

Head Men's Soccer Coach Frankie Taal picked up a new assistant hiring Meir Lewin from Mary Washington University (VA).

"I am very excited to have Meir as my right hand man," said Coach Taal. "He is the right person for the position and I am confident he will be a great addition. I very much look forward to working with him."

Lewin comes to Wesleyan after most recently serving as the assistant coach at MWU while he was also the assistant for two seasons at Washington College in Maryland from 2012-2014. While at Washington College, Lewin coached 4 Centennial All-Conference award winners and 6 honor roll members.

He is also a current scout for the Israel Football Association National Team. Lewin played professionally for the Israeli team serving as their captain from 2007-11 starting 72 games and being named to the league-best-11 in 2009-10 as well.

Lewin was also a teaching assistant and Instructor in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Maryland since 2014. Lewin graduated with a B.A. in Government in 2011 from the Interdisciplinary Center of Herzliya, Israel. He also completed his Masters in English from Washington College in 2014. He is now currently pursuing his Ph.D in Kinesiology and Physical Cultural Studies from the Univ. of Maryland.

Head Women's Soccer Coach Beverley Biancur also hired a new assistant in Kohl Orner. Orner comes to the Bishops after completing a one-year graduate assistantship at USA South rival Averett University (Va.).

Orner is a graduate of Division II Millersville University (Pa.) where he enjoyed a successful collegiate career with the Marauders, earning both All-Conference and All-Region honors as a senior goalkeeper. That same season, Orner led MU to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championship and NCAA Tournament appearances, notching ten shutouts and playing every minute of every match. A native of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, he finished his career with the best goals against average in program history (0.790) and was named a PSAC scholar-athlete. Orner received his B.S. in Education, Technology and Engineering Education from Millersville in December of 2016.

In addition to his coaching duties, Orner will also assist with Wesleyan's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He is slated to complete his US Soccer National D licensure in December of 2018 and will also be receiving his Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Averett that same month.

Both of their seasons get underway on August 31 with the men playing at Mary Washington at 5:00 PM while the women take on Chatham in Arlington, Va. At 7:30 PM.
