Wesleyan Soccer Falls 1-0 to Peace

RALEIGH, N.C.- The N.C. Wesleyan men's soccer team fell 1-0 on the road in their USA South conference opener to nearby rival William Peace University on Wednesday evening.

A scoreless first half saw Peace (2-1-2) take just a slim 8-7 lead in shots while Bishop goalkeeper Tobias Borzel made all three of his saves in the half.

However, in the 57th minute of play, the scoreless game came to an end as Peace' Ivan Ponce broke through with an unassisted goal.

Wesleyan would then go on to outshoot the Pacers 8-3 in the 2nd half with 6 total shots on goal as they created numerous chances. They, unfortunately, could not break through with the tying goal as Peace's keeper would make six saves.

Leading in shots for the Bishops was forward Cadribo Godfrey with 4 and two on goal while Matteo Costa and Sheriff Secka also attempted two shots each.

Wesleyan falls to 0-4 on the season and will remain on the road to face conference foe Pfeiffer University on Saturday at 6 PM.
