Men’s Soccer Dominates Pfeiffer for 1st Win

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The NC Wesleyan College Men's Soccer team played a terrific game at Pfeiffer University (NC) on Saturday evening to pick up their first win of the season.

Wesleyan dominated the Falcons with their speed and three goals from senior Sheriff Secka to win it 4-1 improving to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the USA South.

The Battling Bishops would get on the board first in the 40th minute as Secka scored on a penalty kick to put NCWC up 1-0. Wesleyan kept that lead and a 5-4 shot advantage at the break.

Secka would score his second goal of the game then in the 60th minute of action on a nice assist from freshman Matteo Costa. Costa would then come right back with a goal of his own just two minutes later to put the Bishops up 3-0.

Finally, Secka would complete his hat trick with his final goal of the game in the 77th minute of play. Pfeiffer (3-2, 0-1) would also tack on a late goal in the 79th minute.

Wesleyan sophomore goalkeeper Tobias Borzel would go on to make 9 saves on 10 shots on goal over 90 minutes while Pfeiffer would end up outshooting the Bishops 18-11.

NCWC will next be in action next Saturday, Sept. 29 for weekend games at Huntington College (Ala.) and LaGrange (Ga.).
