Conference Leader Greensboro Knocks off Bishops

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College men's soccer fell in their intense battle with East Division leader Greensboro College 2-1 on the road on a sunny Wednesday afternoon.

The Pride broke through first just five minutes into the game with their first goal while senior captain and defender Joe Brooks then scored in the 28th minute for the Bishops to tie the match at one. It was Brooks' second goal of the season.

GC outshot the Bishops just 5-3 in the first half. The second half was then scoreless for the first 30 minutes before GC broke the tie with the game-winning goal in the 78th minute of play.

Matteo Costa also led the Bishops with 3 shots.

Wesleyan, unfortunately, could not find the tying goal in dropping the matchup to fall to 7-6-1 overall and 7-3-1 in the conference. Greensboro clinches the #1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament with their 14-2 overall record and 11-1 USA South mark. The tournament is set to begin on Tuesday with quarterfinal play.

However, NCWC will finish up conference play with their rescheduled conference game, now set for Saturday at 3 PM when they host rival Methodist University on Senior day. This was originally set for Friday at 2, but was pushed back a day.
