Men's Soccer Pours it on in second half to Oust Peace

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The #2 seeded NC Wesleyan college men's soccer team enacted some revenge in their first round tournament match with William Peace (NC) on Tuesday shutting them out 4-0 to advance to the USA South tournament semifinals on Friday at 7 PM at Maryville College (Tenn.), the top seed from the West Division.

After a scoreless first half that saw the Bishops lead 7-2 in shots, Wesleyan, the 2017 tournament champions, then came out and poured it on scoring 4 goals in the second half to go on for the win to improve to 9-6-1.

Senior defender Hunter Staylor got things started for the Bishops early in the second half as he assisted on a great goal by Aly Cadet with Cadet scoring his 7th goal of the season amidst lots of traffic in front of the net to give NCWC a 1-0 lead. Freshman Enzo Genovese then added to the Bishops lead scoring an insurance goal in the 77th minute, his first of the season off an assist from freshman defender Jack Holden off a corner kick.

Wesleyan then added a third goal just 4 minutes later when freshman midfielder Dominique Giovannini scored his 5th goal of the season off a quality assist from junior Mo Jallow. NCWC then finished off the onslaught with a penalty kick goal from freshman Tommaso Iovene in the 86th minute, his first of the season.

The Bishops outshot the Pacers 15-5 overall for the win and will now prepare to keep up their revenge tour when they get their rematch with the Scots on Friday on the road. #1 seed Greensboro will face Covenant College in the first semifinal Friday.
