FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The NC Wesleyan College men's soccer team was edged out 1-0 on the road at perennial power Mary Washington (Va.) Sunday afternoon.
UMW got on the board in the 40th minute to take the early lead as the shot count remained even at three apiece.
The Bishops, however, could only manage one shot in the second half on goal as they struggled to penetrate the UMW defense.
The match was heavily filled with cards and fouls throughout with 27 total fouls being called, including 17 against the Bishops.
Sophomore keeper Matteo Torchio finished the day making 3 saves on 4 shots on goal while Tony Sas-Cane conncected for two shots on goal.
Wesleyan, now 0-1-1, will next return to action on Friday when they play at ODAC foe Washington & Lee.
