Men's Soccer Falls at W&L and Roanoke

LEXINGTON, Va. - The NC Wesleyan College men's soccer team fell 4-0 to quality ODAC foe Washington & Lee University on the road Friday afternoon. It was a rematch of the two teams' NCAA first round meeting from 2019. The Bishop men also lost at Roanoke College on Saturday evening 2-0 as well.

Unfortunately, WLU would go on to score the only first half goal in the 21st minute to take a 1-0 lead and a 9-1 edge in shots into the intermission.

The Generals then added back to-back goals in the 69th and 70th minutes to put the game out of reach with a 3-0 lead. They then added a final goal in the 75th minute. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Matteo Torchio ended up making 6 saves on 10 shots on goal in the loss.

Wesleyan falls to 0-2-1 with the loss while WLU improves to 2-0-1.

The Bishops then returned to action Saturday with another non-conference game at Roanoke College Va.).

Roanoke got on the board first scoring at the beginning of the second half in the 48th minute after a scoreless first half that saw the Bishops have a 4-3 edge in shots.  

The game then remained 1-0 until RC added an insurance goal in the 89th minute. Each team got off 8 shots apiece in the second half led by four from defender Abubacarr Fofana and three from forward Agustin Rodriguez. Captain Jack Holden also got two shots off on goal but the Bishops could not find the tying goal.

Torchio then made 4 saves on 6 shots on goal.

The Bishops will now finally return home to host Carolina University on Wednesday at 4 PM.
