NCWC Tennis to Face Franciscan in NCAA Opener

Rocky Mount, N.C. - After capturing a sixth straight USA South Tournament crown and NCAA berth back on April 13th, the North Carolina Wesleyan men's tennis team has waited three weeks to learn its fate for the upcoming Division III Tournament. One of 44 teams to make the field, head coach Andres Amores' Bishops learned on Monday afternoon that they will face Allegheny Mountain Conference champ Franciscan University this Friday, May 9th, in first round play.

Washington & Lee University will serve as host, meaning that both the Bishops (12-9) and Barons (10-9) will travel to Lexington, Va. for their regional match-up, marking the first-ever meeting between the two squads. The winner will take on the 6th-ranked Eagles of Emory University (17-6) in Saturday's regional semifinal.

Friday's other first round match pits 26th-ranked host W&L (17-4) against Catholic University (11-6), with the winner meeting 12th-ranked Kenyon College on Saturday. Match times will be announced later Tuesday afternoon.
