NCWC Tennis to Face Washington & Lee in NCAA Opener

Rocky Mount, N.C. - After capturing an eighth straight USA South Tournament crown and NCAA berth back on April 17th, the North Carolina Wesleyan men's tennis team has waited three weeks to learn its fate for the upcoming Division III Tournament. One of 43 teams to make the field, head coach Dustin Hale's Bishops are now set to face Old Dominion Athletic Conference champ Washington & Lee University this Friday, May 13th, in first round play.

Top-ranked Emory University will serve as host, meaning that both the 37th-ranked Bishops (16-7) and Generals (15-8) will travel to Atlanta, Ga. for their regional match-up, marking the fourth postseason meeting between the two squads. Wesleyan boasts a 3-0 record versus W&L in NCAA play, while most recently, the Bishops posted a 7-2 regular season win over the Generals on April 29th.

Friday's match is slated for a 1:00pm start, with the winner advancing to take on the host Eagles (20-3) in Saturday's regional semifinal. The victor of Saturday's 10:00am match moves into Sunday's regional final to face either 12th-ranked Trinity University (17-9), the automatic qualifier from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, or 36th-ranked Sewanee (18-6), the Southern Athletic Association champion.
