Sikh and Appelqvist Sweep USA South Weekly Tennis Awards

Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference has released it weekly awards for March 27th, and N.C. Wesleyan is pleased to announce that junior Sebastian Sikh and freshman David Appelqvist have swept the men's tennis accolades. This is each player's second award of the season.

MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sebastian Sikh, N.C. Wesleyan - A native of Eskilstuna, Sweden, Sikh turned in a 3-1 singles record and a 5-0 doubles mark at both #1 spots last week for the Bishops. In singles play, he earned wins over opponents from USA South foes Ferrum and Methodist, as well as 32nd-ranked Pacific. His lone singles loss was to an opponent from Division II Barton. In doubles, Sikh teamed with Ioannis Brokakis to collect victories over opponents from Ferrum, Methodist, Barton and Pacific, while joining Ben Tolhurst for a second victory versus Ferrum.

MEN'S TENNIS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
David Appelqvist, N.C. Wesleyan - Appelqvist, a product of Motala, Sweden, earned a 4-1 singles record and a 3-1 doubles mark last week for the Bishops. In singles play, Appelqvist defeated opponents from USA South foes Ferrum and Methodist, as well as Division II Barton at the #4 seed. Additionally, he collected a second win over Ferrum at the  #2 spot. His lone singles loss was to an opponent from 32nd-ranked Pacific. In doubles, Appelqvist teamed with J.D. Telles for three wins at the #3 position and Richard Gende for one victory at the #2 slot.
