Bishop Men Take Two at William Peace in League Tennis Action

Raleigh, N.C. - The 24th-ranked men's tennis team of N.C. Wesleyan picked up a pair of 9-0 victories at William Peace University on Thursday in Raleigh. The Battling Bishops have now won eight straight matches, which includes seven consecutive 9-0 sweeps.

Wesleyan made quick work of the Pacers (4-7) as the Bishop duos of Ioannis Brokakis/Roberto Puig (8-3), Aditya Iyer/J.D. Telles (8-0), and Sebastian Sikh/David Chang (8-2) swept doubles play in their match. Brokakis/Puig and Iyer/Telles flip-flopped at the top two positions for victories in the second match, while Ramiro Schachmann and Mark Sokolov teamed for an 8-0 win at #3.

The Bishops went on to win 8-of-12 singles matches on the day by 6-0, 6-0 scores. The Pacers managed to steal a limited number of games at the top two positions, although Sikh, Brokakis, Puig, and Iyer still cruised to straight-set wins in their respective matches at #1 and #2.

NCWC has now won 77 straight regular season USA South matches dating back to 2009. The Bishops are currently 11-3 overall and boast a perfect 6-0 league mark heading into next Thursday's doubleheader at Ferrum College. Match one is slated to begin at noon.
