  • USA South Releases Academic All-Conference Team

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2011-2012 Academic All-Conference Team, and North Carolina Wesleyan is pleased to announce that 58 Battling Bishops have garnered recognition.
  • Athletics Hosts 47th Annual Awards Ceremony

    The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics hosted its 47th Annual Awards Ceremony on Monday, April 16th, in the Garner Lobby of the Dunn Center. Coaches, staff and student-athletes came together to celebrate the accomplishments of both individuals and teams from the 2011-2012 season. Among those athletes and teams, NCWC boasted 50 USA South All-Conference selections, three USA South Championships, two Players of the Year, one Coach of the Year and one NCAA tournament berth. Highlighting the night’s winners were the honors given for the Male and Female Student-Athlete of the Year, along with the Male and Female Athlete of the Year.
  • Brackett Earns 400th Win at Season-Ending Tourney

    North Carolina Wesleyan opened up the 2012 USA South Softball Tournament at Burlington's Springwood Park on Friday morning with an 8-0 win over William Peace, marking the 400th career victory for long-time NCWC head coach John Brackett. Unfortunately, a 7-1 defeat at the hands of top-seeded Christopher Newport later in the day was followed by a season-ending loss to Methodist on Saturday morning.
  • Mills Highlights Softball Postseason Awards

    The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2012 postseason awards for softball with a total of 55 student-athletes earning All-Conference recognition. North Carolina Wesleyan had four players earn accolades, highlighted by senior Meredith Mills being named to the Second Team.
  • Seay's Four Hits Not Enough, Bishops Swept at VWC
    April 10, 2012
    Sophomore Maria Seay went 4-for-5 with a pair of RBIs, but it would not be enough as the Battling Bishop softball team was swept at Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday to wrap up the regular season. The Marlins took game one by a 5-3 score before earning a 4-0 shutout in game two.
  • Averett Takes Two from Wesleyan in USA South Play

    Averett University took two games from N.C. Wesleyan in Friday's USA South softball action, downing the Bishops in the opener by a 5-4 score in extras before posting a 6-2 victory in the nightcap. The games were the final USA South contests of the season.
  • Bishops Outscore Quakers 13-2 in Softball Sweep

    Sophomore pitcher Leanna Fann and freshman hurler Kelsi Bailey each held Guilford College to just one run in their respective complete-game performances, helping their Battling Bishop softball team earn a road sweep of the Quakers on Wednesday afternoon. NCWC won by 3-1 and 10-1 tallies.
  • Pritchett Powers Bishops to Split with Peace

    The Battling Bishop softball team earned a USA South doubleheader split with William Peace University on Tuesday afternoon at Edge Field. Wesleyan got a walk-off three-run homerun by sophomore Paige Pritchett to take the opener 9-1, while the second game saw the Pacers rebound for a 7-4 victory.
  • Wesleyan Softball Earns League Split at Shenandoah

    North Carolina Wesleyan's softball team earned 10-7 victory in game two of Saturday's USA South doubleheader at Shenandoah University, securing a two-game split with the Hornets. SU had previously turned in a come-from-behind 6-5 victory in the opener.

    North Carolina Wesleyan's softball team dropped a pair of heartbreaking extra-inning league games over the weekend, suffering a 5-4 loss to Ferrum in nine innings on Saturday and a 7-4 loss to Greensboro in eight innings on Sunday. The Panthers and Pride both earned key USA South sweeps in the process.

    North Carolina Wesleyan's softball team rode the strong pitching of Leanna Fann to a pair of wins at Methodist University's Early Bird Tournament over the weekend. The sophomore righty picked up victories over Stevenson and York (Pa.), while her only defeat came in a 2-0 extra inning loss to #8 Salisbury. Fann is now 3-1 on the season and her Bishops stand at 4-2 overall.
