    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2013-2014 Academic All-Conference Team, and North Carolina Wesleyan College is pleased to announce that 84 Battling Bishops have garnered recognition, marking the highest total in school history!
  • Athletics Hosts 49th Annual Awards Ceremony

    The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics hosted its 49th Annual Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 23rd, in Minges Auditorium of the Dunn Center. Coaches, staff and student-athletes came together to celebrate the accomplishments of both individuals and teams from the 2013-2014 season.
  • NCWC Softball Season Ends at USA South Tourney

    North Carolina Wesleyan's softball team saw its 2014 season come to an end on Saturday morning at the USA South Conference Softball Tournament in Rocky Mount. The 7th-seeded Bishops rebounded from a 7-0 loss to Huntingdon in Friday's opener to post a 7-1 victory over Averett in the second round. Unfortunately, 4th-seeded Ferrum was able to secure an 8-0 win in Saturday's first game, eliminating Wesleyan in the process.
  • USA South Announces Postseason Softball Awards

    The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2014 All-Conference awards for softball, with a total of 49 student-athletes earning recognition. North Carolina Wesleyan had a trio of athletes honored, led by seniors Carly Creef and Paige Pritchett as Second and Third Team selections. Freshman Abigail Leonard rounded out Wesleyan's accolades as a member of the league's All-Sportsmanship team.
  • Softball Ends Regular Season, Prepares for Tourney

    N.C. Wesleyan's softball team wrapped up its regular season on Saturday afternoon, dropping a pair of USA South contests at Huntingdon College. The Hawks got a stellar pitching performance in game one en route to a 1-0 shutout, then notched a 6-2 win in the nightcap. The Bishops, however, will have a chance to avenge themselves on Friday at 11:00am, as 7th-seeded NCWC will face off against 2nd-seeded Huntingdon in the first round of the USA South Tournament in Rocky Mount.
  • Roberts Powers Wesleyan to Trio of USA South Wins

    The Battling Bishop softball team won a trio of USA South contests over the past two days, downing Mary Baldwin on Monday before earning a two-game sweep of William Peace on Tuesday. Junior Sarah Roberts paved the way for Wesleyan with a 6-for-12 showing at the plate, including a pair of doubles and seven RBIs over the four-game span.
  • Wesleyan Softball Splits Pair with Angels and Pride

    The Battling Bishop softball team of N.C. Wesleyan split a pair of USA South doubleheaders over the past two days, downing Meredith in the opener of Wednesday's home finale before knocking off Greensboro in game one of Thursday's road twinbill. Senior Jessica Hodges paced the Bishops with six hits over the four-game span, which included the eventual game-winning RBI-double in Wesleyan's victory over the Pride.
  • Bishop Softball Honors Seniors, Sweeps Covenant

    N.C. Wesleyan's softball team honored its 2014 senior class on Saturday afternoon at Edge Field, then celebrated by logging a two-game sweep of Covenant College. With all six seniors playing major roles, the Bishops took game one by a 6-1 score before tallying a 4-3 come-from-behind win in the nightcap. Paige Pritchett went 4-4 in the opener to help Leanna Fann earn the win, while game two saw Carly Creef, Jessica Hodges and Brittni Jones load the bases in the bottom of the seventh to set the stage for Maria Seay's walk-off double.
  • Edgren Pitches Bishops to League Split at Ferrum

    In Saturday's USA South softball action, N.C. Wesleyan split a pair of games at Ferrum College, falling in game one by an 8-0 score before bouncing back for a 5-4 extra-inning win in game two. Sophomore Jasmine Edgren went the distance in the nightcap, scattering nine hits over eight innings with six strikeouts.
  • Softball Sweeps Methodist for Fourth Straight Win

    N.C. Wesleyan's softball team turned in its second straight USA South conference sweep on Tuesday afternoon, downing Methodist University by 5-4 and 8-3 scores at Edge Field. Freshmen Brittany and Tiffany Manning each drew bases loaded walks in the bottom of the eighth inning to seal the game one win, while senior Carly Creef went 3-for-3 with an RBI in the nightcap.

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its weekly awards for March 10th, with a trio of Battling Bishops earning accolades. Senior Maria Seay of softball and sophomore Mikhail Konnov of men's tennis were tabbed Players of the Week, while freshman Spencer Ramsey of baseball was named Rookie Pitcher of the Week.

    Senior Maria Seay went 5-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and two sacrifice hits to help her Battling Bishop softball team secure a USA South sweep of Maryville College on Sunday afternoon at Edge Field. Wesleyan took the opener by an 8-6 score before tallying an 8-3 victory in game two.

  • USA South Releases 50th Anniversary Softball Team

    The 2013-14 season serves as the 50th for the USA South Athletic Conference. In an effort to relive 50 Years of great student-athlete performances, each current league institution was given the opportunity to submit names of student-athletes who competed within the Conference and excelled not only on their campuses, but in the Conference as a whole. The league has continued its recognition of these teams with the sport of softball, and N.C. Wesleyan is proud to have placed 22 Bishop players on the squad.
  • NCWC Softball Wins Fifth Straight with Salem Sweep

    The N.C. Wesleyan softball team turned in a two-game sweep of Salem College on Tuesday afternoon at Edge Field, downing the Sprits by an 11-3 score in both contests. The Bishops have now won five straight to move to 5-3 on the season, with all three losses coming to nationally-ranked opponents.
  • Softball Bishops Win Trio of Games in Triangle Classic

    North Carolina Wesleyan's softball team took part in the Triangle Classic this weekend, hosting six games at Edge Field. Competition was also held in Raleigh with William Peace and Meredith serving as co-hosts. The Battling Bishops faired well by picking up a trio of wins, downing opponents from Neumann, Hood and Wilson to close out the tourney. NCWC's lone defeat came at the hands of nationally-ranked Salisbury by a 3-1 score.
  • Wesleyan Softball Tabbed Eighth in Preseason Poll

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released is preseason coaches' poll for softball, with N.C. Wesleyan earning an 8th-place billing among the league's 13 teams. The Bishops tallied 72 points in the poll, which was headed up by Piedmont College with ten first-place votes.
  • Bishops Honor Local Heroes With 9/11 Passes

    September 11th is a time for remembering our fallen heroes from New York to Pennsylvania to Washington, D.C. It is also a time to recognize those local heroes that risk their lives daily to insure the safety of our Rocky Mount community. For this reason, the student-athletes of North Carolina Wesleyan annually honor our local policemen and firefighters by distributing season passes for all Battling Bishop sporting events.
