Softball Ends Regular Season, Prepares for Tourney

Montgomery, Ala. - N.C. Wesleyan's softball team wrapped up its regular season on Saturday afternoon, dropping a pair of USA South contests at Huntingdon College. The Hawks got a stellar pitching performance in game one en route to a 1-0 shutout, then notched a 6-2 win in the nightcap. The Bishops, however, will have a chance to avenge themselves on Friday at 11:00am, as 7th-seeded NCWC will face off against 2nd-seeded Huntingdon in the first round of the USA South Tournament in Rocky Mount.

Senior hurler Leanna Fann (9-6) took the tough-luck loss in the opener, allowing just one run on six hits over six innings of work. Unfortunately, her offense could only muster a trio of hits... singles by Carly Creef, Paige Pritchett and Sarah Roberts.

In game two, the Hawks used a four-run fifth inning to secure the sweep. Pritchett had two of Wesleyan's six hits and drove in a run, while sophomore Jasmine Edgren (7-7) suffered the loss in the circle.

Sunday's doubleheader at LaGrange was canceled to due rain, wrapping up the Bishops' regular season slate with a 17-17 overall record and 12-10 USA South mark.
