USA South Announces Postseason Softball Awards

Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2014 All-Conference awards for softball, with a total of 49 student-athletes earning recognition. North Carolina Wesleyan had a trio of athletes honored, led by seniors Carly Creef and Paige Pritchett as Second and Third Team selections. Freshman Abigail Leonard rounded out Wesleyan's accolades as a member of the league's All-Sportsmanship team.

A native of Manns Harbor, N.C., Creef received Second Team recognition at second base and now becomes a two-time All-Conference honoree, having previously garnered a Third Team nod in 2012. She batted .351 in conference play this season and currently leads the team with 24 runs scored. Additionally, Creef's 37 hits rank second on the team entering this weekend's conference tournament.

Joining Creef on the All-Conference team is Pritchett, who picks up her second consecutive Third Team award at designated player. The Gordonsville, Va. native currently leads the Battling Bishops in several offensive categories, including batting average (.372), hits (42), doubles (13), homeruns (4) and RBIs (27).

Elsewhere around the league, Meredith's Amanda White collected Player of the Year accolades, Piedmont's Jordin Ellingson earned Pitcher of the Year honors and her coach, Terry Martin, collected the Coach of the Year award. Rounding out the individual honors were Averett's Jessica Long and Ferrum's Amanda Roberts, who were named Rookie of the Year and Rookie Pitcher of the Year, respectively.
