Rocky Mount, N.C. - Head Coach John Bracket and his N.C. Wesleyan softball team honored their 2017 senior class on Sunday afternoon before wrapping up regular season play versus USA South foe Greensboro. The Bishops and Pride proceeded to split their doubleheader, with GC taking the opener 4-3 and NCWC running away with a 10-4 win in game two.

Prior to game one, Wesleyan recognized seniors Abigail Leonard, Brittany Manning, Lindsey Sharpe, and Tiffany Manning. With all four starting and playing key roles, the Bishops came up just short in a 7th-inning rally that pulled NCWC to within one and stranded the tying and winning runs at first and second. Sharpe suffered the loss, while Brittany Manning went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Game two saw sophomore Shelby Godwin (8-7) tally the win on the mound after getting plenty of offensive help from her teammates. Junior Peyton Hyler led the way with a 4-for-4 showing at the plate with a homerun and five RBIs.

Previously on Saturday, Wesleyan split a league twinbill on the road at William Peace. The Pacers took game one by a 7-0 tally before NCWC bounced back for a 4-3 win in the nightcap. Sharpe (1-3) picked up the complete-game victory in the circle and blasted a solo homerun in the sixth to help her own cause.

Wesleyan (18-18 overall) finishes USA South play with a 13-9 record and has secured the #4 seed in the 2017 USA South Tournament, which is slated to begin next weekend. The Bishops will travel to #3 Ferrum College for a best-of-3 series that kicks off with a doubleheader on Saturday. Game three (if necessary) is slated for Sunday.
