Bishops Get Huge Win over Top 15 Ranked Randolph-Macon

Rocky Mount, NC - The Lady Bishops swept a DH over Marymount and Randolph-Macon on Sunday to cap off a 7-1 week.

In game 1 against the Saints, the Bishops were able to win by a 9-1 run rule. Lillie Baumbach led off the lineup with 2 runs scored and 1 hit to give the offense an early boost. She was followed by Savannah Thompson and Makayla Simmons who both contributed doubles in the victory. To go along with her double, Thompson had a 3-hit game of her own and accounted for 3 of the 8 Bishop RBIs.

On the mound in the first game, the ladies were dynamite. Emily Osteguin and Avery Jordan combined to only give up 6 hits and 3 walks over 6 innings. Osteguin threw 5 innings and was credited with the win.

In the 2nd game, the Bishops would face off with nationally ranked Randolph Macon. Wesleyan jumped out to an early 8-0 start and held off the fierce Yellow Jacket comeback. In an 8-4 final, the ladies had 5 players with a multi-hit game including Mary Katherine Raynor who went yard in left for Wesleyan. The ladies would end up combining for 12 hits in the contest, which is one of the program's best games of the season considering it is against top 15 competition.

On the mound in the final game of the Grand Slam Classic, Morgan Aycock would get the ball for Wesleyan and only allow 1 run over 5 innings, and surrendered 5 hits. She would also be credited with the win.

The Bishops will travel to Myrtle Beach this weekend as they play in the annual Spring Break Tournament. The Lady Bishops will head to SC with an overall record of 7-3.
