Softball Run-Rules Averett in Sweep

Rocky Mount, NC - The NC Wesleyan softball team swept Averett in a DH on Saturday. 

In game one, the Lady Bishops dominated Averett with a 10-2 run-rule victory. Wesleyan exploded for eight runs in the fourth inning to take control of the game and never looked back. Molly Alejandrino was a force to be reckoned with at the plate, getting hits in all three of her plate appearances and batting in an impressive five runs - half of the team's total runs. Savannah Thompson and Moe Byerly also had standout performances, with Thompson recording three hits and Byerly contributing a multi-hit game with two RBIs. On the mound, Emily Humphery was a stalwart for Wesleyan, throwing all five innings and allowing only two earned runs while securing the win.

In game two, Wesleyan continued their offensive onslaught with a 17-9 victory. Molly Alejandrino once again had a standout game, going 3-for-3 with five RBIs. At the top of the order, Lillie Baumbach and Alexis Whitfield combined for four hits and an impressive seven runs scored. The Lady Bishops dominated with a twelve-run fourth inning, putting the game out of reach for Averett.

Wesleyan improves to 13-4 on the season and will travel to Virginia Wesleyan next Thursday. The first pitch of the DH is set for 2 pm.
