  • USA South Releases Academic All-Conference Team

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2011-2012 Academic All-Conference Team, and North Carolina Wesleyan is pleased to announce that 58 Battling Bishops have garnered recognition.
  • Athletics Hosts 47th Annual Awards Ceremony

    The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics hosted its 47th Annual Awards Ceremony on Monday, April 16th, in the Garner Lobby of the Dunn Center. Coaches, staff and student-athletes came together to celebrate the accomplishments of both individuals and teams from the 2011-2012 season. Among those athletes and teams, NCWC boasted 50 USA South All-Conference selections, three USA South Championships, two Players of the Year, one Coach of the Year and one NCAA tournament berth. Highlighting the night’s winners were the honors given for the Male and Female Student-Athlete of the Year, along with the Male and Female Athlete of the Year.
  • Bishop Athletes Join "Stop Hunger Now" Efforts

    Members of several Battling Bishop athletic squads donated their time on Saturday morning to help with the area's "Stop Hunger Now" efforts in Edge Gym.
  • All-Conference Awards Announced in Women's Hoops

    The USA South announced it postseason women's basketball awards on Wednesday, and North Carolina Wesleyan had a four student-athletes earn accolades. Junior Samantha Urquhart and sophomore Tiffany Bell were each Third Team selections, while freshman Derreon Cole earned Honorable Mention recognition. Senior Melony Walker rounded out Wesleyan's award-winners as the Battling Bishops' representative on the All-Sportsmanship Team.

    North Carolina Wesleyan's women's basketball team turned in a 73-69 upset of league-leading Ferrum College on Saturday afternoon, spoiling the Panthers' hopes of an out-right USA South regular season crown. Sophomore Monet Edwards recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds to pace the Battling Bishops.

    North Carolina Wesleyan's men's and women's basketball squads were both in action on Tuesday night, with the men hosting Mid-Atlantic Christian University and the women traveling to Newport News Apprentice. The Bishop men cruised to an 88-51 victory behind Cornelius Snow's game-high 17 points, while the Wesleyan women were paced by Tiffany Bell's 21 points in a tough 73-68 loss to the Builders.

    In Saturday afternoon women's hoops action, North Carolina Wesleyan secured the 2011 Jim Crawley Tournament championship with a 56-47 victory over Grove City in the title game hosted by Frostburg State University. Sophomore A'leisha Henderson netted eight points in the final five minutes to help Wesleyan seal the victory, earning the sophomore guard Most Valuable Player honors.
