Bishop Women Fall Short at Virginia Wesleyan, 72-69

Virginia Beach, Va. - Freshman KeChae Parker tallied her first career double-double on Wednesday night, but it would not be enough as her Battling Bishop women's basketball team fell just short at Virginia Wesleyan, 72-69. Parker's 14 points paced NCWC offensively, while her 11 rebounds were a game-high.

The Bishops shot just 23 percent from the floor in the opening period en route to a 38-25 deficit at the break. In the second half, however, NCWC connected on nearly 50 percent of its attempts with Parker, NeTaih Davis and Synquis Strothers combining to go a perfect 7-for-7.

The final six minutes of regulation saw the Bishops put together a 17-5 run that cut a 15-point Marlin lead to just three. Unfortunately, time would run out on NCWC's comeback bid that ended with a Shekinah Huggins trey at the buzzer.

Strothers and sophomore Alexis Fitzgerald joined Parker in double-figures with ten points apiece, while Nancy Kelly paced the Marlins (3-3) with game-high 21 points.

NCWC (3-3) will now break for exams before returning to USA South play at home on Sunday, December 14th, versus Averett University. Tip-off is slated for 2:00pm in Everett Gymnasium.
