Parker Paces Bishops in Split at Marietta's Jim Meagle Turkey Shoot

Marietta, Ohio - Junior KeChae Parker scored 18 points on Sunday afternoon to help lead her Bishop women's basketball team to a 64-57 win over Penn State-Behrend in the 32nd Annual Jim Meagle Turkey Shoot hosted by Marietta College. Parker, who netted 13 points in Saturday's opening round loss to Bethany, was named to the All-Tournament team for her efforts.

In Sunday's victory, the Bishops found themselves down 33-28 at the half, but NCWC out-scored Behrend 20-15 in the third quarter to knot the score at 48-48 entering the fourth. Trailing 55-54 midway the period, Parker sank a pair of free throws that put the Bishops back on top. The points at the stripe proceeded to kick off a 10-2 run to close out the game and 7-point win.

In addition to Parker, Alexis Fitzgerald chipped in 11 points and six assists, while fellow senior Timyra Staton added a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds. Behrend was led by Katie Chess with 18 points.

Saturday's opener saw Wesleyan suffer its first loss of the season to Bethany (W.V.) by an 87-61 score. The Bishops played with Bethany for two quarters but got doubled up in the second and fourth quarters en route to the loss.

Fitzgerald's 15 points paced five Bishops in double-figures, while Bethany's Hayley Holenka led all scorers with a game-high 36.

Wesleyan is now 4-1 to start the season. The Bishops return to action at home on Tuesday night when they host Guilford College. Tip-off is slated for 7:30pm in Everett Gymnasium.
