Bishop Women Down Berry College, Fall at Oglethorpe

Atlanta, Ga. - The women's basketball team of N.C. Wesleyan split a pair of road games over the weekend in Georgia, downing Berry College on Saturday, 64-46, before falling at Oglethorpe University on Sunday, 70-60. Junior KeChae Parker turned in a tremendous weekend, netting a career-high 23 points in Saturday's win before eclipsing it with a 30-point performance on Sunday.

Versus Berry (4-5), the Bishops trailed 27-23 at the break but out-scored the Vikings 19-9 in the third quarter to take a 42-36 edge into the final period. The fourth quarter saw Wesleyan knock down 10-of-18 attempts from the floor, with Parker and sophomore Nadiya Holley leading the way with a combined 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting.

Defensively, the Bishops held BC to just 14 percent accuracy in the period to pull away for the 18-point win.

Parker narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds. She was joined in double figures by Holley with 11 points, while freshman Caila Spruill pulled down a game-high 11 boards.

Against Oglethorpe (6-4), Parker tried to single-handedly will her team to victory with a 30-point performance, but the Stormy Petrels used a more balanced attack to pull away down the stretch.

NCWC led early in the third quarter when a three-pointer by senior Alexis Fitzgerald gave the Bishops a 37-35 advantage with at the 9:34 mark. Unfortunately, the lead was shortlived as OU countered with an 8-0 run that put them on top for good. Jada Triplett paced OU with a team-high 27 points.

Wesleyan (5-4) travels to Christopher Newport on Wednesday evening before breaking for the holidays. Tip-off is slated for 6:00pm.
