Rocky Mount, N.C. - Head Coach Artina Trader's Battling Bishops continued to roll in USA South play over the weekend, knocking off Meredith College 72-59 on Saturday and William Peace University 93-89 on Sunday. Wesleyan has now won three straight league games to move above the .500 mark with a 4-3 conference record.

At Meredith on Saturday, junior Weslie Young tallied her first career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds to spark NCWC to victory. Tied 34-34 at the break, the Bishops held a slim 48-46 lead heading into the fourth quarter. NCWC proceeded to open the final period with an 8-0 run that put the Bishops up ten, 56-46, and the Angels would not recover. Senior KeChae Parker scored six of Wesleyan's eight points during the pivotal run, finishing with 11 points and eight boards on the day.

In addition to Young and Parker, Javana Jones chipped in 15 points off the bench, while fellow freshman Keorra Taylor rounded out NCWC's double-figure scorers with 10. Junior point guard Daijah Davis also turned in a solid performance with nine points and four assists.

Meredith was led by Kimbery Schuh with a game-high 16 points.

Versus WPU on Sunday, the Bishops survived a furious Pacer rally down the stretch to hold on for the 4-point win. The tables were actually turned on the Bishops, who watched as the Pacers opened the fourth quarter with a 10-0 run that cut an 11-point deficit at the start of the period to just one point, 75-74, with 7:31 remaining. Davis answered for Wesleyan with a jumper to ignite her team's offense, and while WPU would get as close as one on four more occasions, the Pacers never managed to tie the score as Wesleyan never trailed in the second half.

The Bishops' defense came up big in the final minute. After Parker knocked down 1-of-2 at the charity stripe to give NCWC a 91-89 lead, Jones tied up WPU's in-bounds pass with the jump ball going to the Bishops. Forced to foul, the Pacers put the freshman Jones on the line, who calmly sank both free throws with seven ticks left to seal the victory.

NCWC's bench play was key in the win as a trio of Bishops reached double-figures, including season-highs from Nadiya Holley and Vontasia Olds with 18 and 11 points, respectively. Jones added 13 points of her own, while starters Parker and Cheria Turrentine chipped in 13 and 11. Davis dished out a season-high eight assists to go along with eight points.

For WPU, Mikayla Ray went 18-of-18 at the free throw line en route to 40 points on the day.

Wesleyan (7-8, 4-3 USA South) continues conference play on Wednesday at Methodist University. Tip-off is slated for 7:30pm in Fayetteville.
