Wesleyan Women Fall at D-1 Coastal Carolina

CONWAY, S.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's basketball was defeated 126-65 on the road in their exhibition game at Div. I Coastal Carolina University Saturday afternoon.

The non-conference game, which does not count against NCWC's record, was a tough loss for the Bishops as they struggled to shoot to the ball falling behind 33-13 in the first quarter and 70-32 at halftime. Wesleyan shot 31 percent for the game and just 21 percent from three whereas the Chanticleers shot 50 percent overall and 39 percent from three.

Sophomore guard Cydney Nichols led the Bishops with 18 points and 4 three-pointers while fellow sophomore guard Javana Jones led the Bishops in rebounds with 8 and assists with 4 along with scoring 11 points in her season debut.

Senior Forward Weslie Young also played well adding 9 points and 7 rebounds with a block while senior Guard Nadiya Holley scored 7 with 6 rebounds, an assist and 3 steals. Guard Daijah Davis also scored 5 points, brought down 5 boards, and recorded 5 assists with 2 steals.

The Bishops (1-6) are next in action on Wednesday evening on the road at Pfeiffer University in a rescheduled game at 6 PM.
