ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's basketball team fell 69-65 to conference rival William Peace University (N.C.) at home on Friday as their 4th quarter rally fell just short.

After Wesleyan trailed by 15 early in the fourth, the Bishops went on a run outscoring the Pacers in the fourth 30-19 as they trimmed their deficit all the way down to four points but ran out of time at the end.

A low-scoring 1st quarter saw the rivals tied at 11 after one while Peace took a 30-25 halftime edge. Peace shot 58 percent in the 2nd quarter after Wesleyan held them to 21 percent in the first. The Bishops shot 37 percent in the half as well.

Unfortunately, NCWC got off to a rough start in the third quarter as Peace came out with a 20-10 run in the third to increase their advantage to 50-35 after three. The teams traded shooting percentages in the second half with Peace shooting 50 percent in the third and 25 percent in the fourth while Wesleyan shot 22 percent in the third and 50 percent in the fourth making 12 shots. However, the achilles heel on the night for the Bishops was their three-point shooting as they struggled all night making just 2 of 17 threes while they were also under 50 percent from the free-throw line limiting their chances.

Wesleyan did out rebound the Pacers 50-39 overall and 21-11 on the offensive end. Sophomore guard Javana Jones ended up leading the Bishops with 16 points along with 6 rebounds, an assist, a steal and two blocks. Nine different Bishops also recorded steals on the evening as well.

Junior forward Arreon Walter also had a solid night finishing with 8 points and 7 rebounds and a steal while senior guard Daijah Davis also added 8 points with 3 boards. Sophomore guard Keorra Taylor then led the Bishops with 4 assists while adding 4 points, 3 rebounds, and a steal.

NCWC falls to 2-7 overall and 1-1 in the conference while Peace improves to 5-4 and 3-1 in the league.

The Bishops are next in action on Monday and Tuesday when they travel to Maryland to battle St. Mary's and Goucher Colleges.
