Lady Bishops Defeat Bruins For 2-0 Start To Season

Rocky Mount, NC – On day two of the Jean Edge Classic hosted by the Battling Bishops, the Women's Basketball team defeated Carolina University 64-54, starting their season 2-0. 

The Bishops and the Bruins battled back and forth on the court and the Bishops fall behind by one point, 13-12, in the first quarter. However, midway through the second quarter, the lady Bishops regained their composure to go on an 8 to 0 run to change the momentum to make the halftime score 27-21.

The second half saw the Bishops and Bruins continue to battle to keep the game close while the Lady Bishops ultimately sealed the victory and finished the game strong due to their composure, resulting in another big win for the lady Bishops to start the season strong at 2-0. 

Bishops junior forward, Nadia Simmons, from Hendersonville, NC, finished the game with 15 points. Simmons' shooting performance was an impressive 7 of 14 and 1 of 3 behind the arc while she also gained a whopping nine rebounds. Equally impressive was Bishop senior guard, Nyesha Best, from Goldsboro, NC, who finished the game with 11-points, shooting 3 of 7 and 2 of 2 behind the arc.

The Battling Bishops will travel to Raleigh, NC, to face Meredith College this Tuesday, November 15th, 6:00 PM.
