Bishops Fall Against North Carolina Central 82-41

Durham, NC – The North Carolina Wesleyan University Women's Basketball team traveled to Durham, NC to square off against the Division I North Carolina Central University Women's Basketball team on Tuesday evening in the McDougald-McLendon Arena where an estimated 885 spectators were in attendance. The Bishops battled against the Eagles throughout the entirety of the game, despite falling by a score of 82-41.

The Eagles of NC Central got on the scoreboard within the first ten seconds of the game and later in the first quarter went on a 14-0 run that put the Bishops behind 29-8 going into the second quarter.

The second quarter saw the Bishops continue to fight back and have a 50% shooting performance from the floor while shooting 67% from behind the arc to bring the score going into halftime to 47-23.

The third quarter saw true grit and determination as the Bishops continued to fight to have an eleven-point third quarter while shooting 45% from the floor.

NC Central Eagles started the fourth quarter off on a 10-0 run and ended the game with a score of 82-41.

NC Wesleyan Battling Bishops featured two leaders in scoring double-doubles versus the NC Central Eagles. Areina Harris, the junior from Raleigh, NC, had an eleven-point scoring night to lead the Bishops, while Nadia Simmons, the junior from Henderson, NC, had a ten-point scoring night for the Bishops.

The Battling Bishops are now 3-2 (1-1 in USA South) and will play High Point University in High Point, NC at the Qubein Center, on Wednesday, December 7th at 7:00 pm. The game will be featured on ESPN+.
