Wesleyan Lax Drops Season Opener to Knights, 21-4

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The N.C. Wesleyan women's lacrosse team dropped its 2013 season opener on Thursday afternoon, falling to St. Andrews University by a 21-4 tally at Scalf Field. The Bishops rebounded from a shaky start to battle the Knights to a 4-3 score in the second half. Senior Ashley Marks paced NCWC with a pair of goals.

Joining Marks in the scoring column were freshmen Haley Hopkins and Kyrie Ozmore with a goal apiece, while sophomore Connor Wright added an assist. Wright also posted a team-high five ground balls, and Marks had four caused turnovers.

The Bishops managed 11 shots on the day, while SAU held a slim 14-12 advantage in draw controls. The Knights also recorded a 24-16 lead in ground balls.

Wesleyan (0-1) returns to action next Thursday when the Bishops host Davenport University at 3:00pm at Scalf Field.
