NCWC Lax Opens USA South Play at Meredith

Raleigh, N.C. - In Wednesday's lacrosse action, N.C. Wesleyan opened USA South play on the road at Meredith College, falling by a 17-3 score in Raleigh. Senior Ashley Marks tallied two of Wesleyan's scores, while freshman Haley Hopkins notched one goal and an assist.

The Avenging Angels raced out to a 7-0 lead before Marks could get Wesleyan the board. Meredith went on to forge a 12-1 lead at the half and proceeded to out-score the Bishops 5-3 in the final 30 minutes to secure the victory.

Wesleyan goalie Marissa Santos managed 11 saves on 36 shots, while Meredith keeper Andie Stuber had fives saves on 11 shots. Draw controls were even at 11-11, but the Angels held a decisive advantage in ground balls, 32-13.

The Bishops (0-4, 0-1 USA South) continue league play at Ferrum on Saturday at 1:00pm.
