Bishops to Celebrate NCAA DIII Week via Instagram Story

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The NCAA's 7th annual Division III Week is upon us and runs April 2-8 on campuses nationwide. N.C. Wesleyan is proud to join 451 Division III schools celebrating the academic, athletic, and social accomplishments of our student-athletes. This year, the Bishops are promoting the DIII athletic experience by allowing Alexandra Cucinotta to take over the Department of Athletics' Instagram page on Wednesday, April 4.

Cucinotta, a freshman lacrosse player from Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, will be offering a unique perspective of the Division III athletic experience via social media. The current USA South Rookie of the Week will chronicle her day on Instagram, beginning with campus life in the morning and taking Bishop fans on a road trip to Ferrum College for a conference match later in the day. Cucinotta's posts should offer insight into what it takes daily to balance the academic, athletic, and social aspects of being a Division III athlete.

The purpose of NCAA Division III Week is to provide an opportunity for all individuals associated with a Division III institution or conference to recognize the powerful impact that athletics and student-athletes have on their campuses and in their surrounding communities. Last year, Bishop athletes created a video that spoke to the Division III experience at N.C. Wesleyan College, while other past projects have included highlighting our 4C Philosophy, joining the campus' annual Battle of the Bishops, and participating in a variety of community service initiatives, among others.

The athletic experience will be stressed through this year's Instagram story. Passion and sportsmanship are attributes of DIII, and our student-athletes play for the love of the game and strive for excellence in all facets of life. It is our hope that "A Day in the DIII Life" will exhibit these attributes firsthand.
