  • Strong Defensive Effort Results in 0-0 Tie at Meredith

    Behind a strong defensive effort in rainy conditions, the Battling Bishop women's soccer team fought to a scoreless draw at Meredith College on Wednesday evening in Raleigh. The Avenging Angels, who clinched a share of the USA South regular season championship with the tie, held a 12-6 edge in shots but were unable to best a Wesleyan defense anchored by senior Danielle Hickman.

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its weekly awards for October 27th, and North Carolina Wesleyan is pleased to announce that senior Rebecca Staylor of women's soccer has been named the league's Offensive Player of the Week. The Virginia Beach native garnered recognition after tallying seven goals in a trio of Bishop wins over the past seven days.
  • Wesleyan Wins Fourth Straight to Secure 10th Victory

    For the first time in over a decade, the North Carolina Wesleyan women's soccer team has secured a winning season. The Battling Bishops did so over the weekend with a pair of dominating 4-0 victories at USA South foes Huntingdon and LaGrange, giving the Bishops a 10-5-1 overall record. The wins also run the team's current win streak to four matches... a span that has seen NCWC out-score its opponents 17-0.
  • NCWC Tallies 6-0 Win over MBC on Think Pink Day

    On Think Pink Day at Scalf Field, the women's soccer team of N.C. Wesleyan tallied a 6-0 win over USA South foe Mary Baldwin. Senior Rebecca Staylor netted four goals, while five different players notched assists en route to the team's second straight shutout. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Battling Bishop players and fans sported pink attire to show their support throughout the match!
  • Bishop Women Blank Peace in USA South Play, 3-0

    The North Carolina Wesleyan women's soccer team earned a 3-0 league shutout of William Peace University on Saturday afternoon, blanking the Pacers 3-0 in Raleigh. Sophomore Logan Bill gave the Bishops all the offense they needed with a goal in the 51st minute, which was assisted by Sarah Olsowski. NCWC is now 7-5-1 overall.
  • Bishops Honor Seniors Prior to Match Postponement

    The women's soccer team of N.C. Wesleyan honored its 2014 senior class on Saturday afternoon at Scalf Field, but the festivities were shortlived as inclement weather forced the postponement of its match with Covenant less than six minutes in. The Bishops were, however, able to complete their "Tradition Never Graduates" weekend for alumni, parents and recruits, which culminated with senior recognition for Jade Gold, Rebecca Staylor and Danielle Hickman.
  • NCWC Women Post 3-1 USA South Victory at Ferrum

    The Battling Bishop women's soccer team posted a 3-1 USA South victory at Ferrum College on Saturday afternoon. Wesleyan got scores from senior Rebecca Staylor, freshman Julia Rebellon and sophomore Logan Bill en route to the team's sixth win of the season. Rebellon's goal in the 34th minute proved to be the eventual gamewinner.
  • Bishop Men Knock Off Methodist, Women Fall in OT

    The men's and women's soccer teams of North Carolina Wesleyan hosted a USA South doubleheader with rival Methodist University on Wednesday afternoon at Scalf Field. The Battling Bishop men scored a trio of second half goals to seal a 3-1 victory in the opener, while NCWC's women dropped a tough 2-1 overtime decision to the Monarchs in the nightcap.
  • Bishop Women Fight to 1-1 OT Draw at Greensboro

    The Battling Bishop women's soccer team fought to a 1-1 double overtime draw at Greensboro College on Sunday afternoon in USA South play. Senior Rebecca Staylor's unassisted score in the 16th minute looked as though it would hold up, but the Pride's Allison Gibson netted the equalizer with 1:39 left in regulation to force OT.

    Junior Sarah Olsowski and senior Rebecca Staylor each netted goals on Friday afternoon to lead their N.C. Wesleyan women's soccer team to an impressive 2-1 victory over Averett University at Scalf Field. The Battling Bishops, who are off to the program's best start in over a decade, are now 5-2 on the season and remain undefeated at home.

    The N.C. Wesleyan women's soccer team posted a 3-0 shutout over Warren Wilson College on Sunday afternoon at Scalf Field. Freshman Amanda Mazza anchored a Bishop defense that allowed just one shot on the day, helping her team secure its third shutout victory of the season. NCWC is now 4-2 overall.

    Senior Rebecca Staylor scored four goals and dished out two assists to lead her Battling Bishop women's soccer team to a pair of non-conference victories at Scalf Field over the weekend. Wesleyan downed Randolph College by a 5-2 score on Saturday, then wrapped up play with a dominating 7-0 win over Hollins University on Sunday. The Bishops are now 3-1 on the season.
  • NCWC Women Suffer Tough 1-0 Defeat at R-MC

    Fresh off a 2-0 season-opening win over Guilford on Friday, the Battling Bishop women's soccer team was back in action on Saturday at Randolph-Macon, suffering its first defeat of the season by a 1-0 score to a talented Yellow Jacket squad. Bishop junior Vanessa Batchelor kept her team in the match by making six saves on the day, five of which came in the second half.
  • Bishops Run Past Quakers in Season Opener, 2-0

    The women's soccer team of N.C. Wesleyan opened its 2014 slate on Friday afternoon with a 2-0 victory over Guilford College at Scalf Field. After fighting to a scoreless tie at the break, sophomore Sarah Olsowski and freshman Hannah Tolson each netted goals early in the second half to give the Bishops a lead they would not relinquish.
