NCWC Women Suffer Tough 1-0 Defeat at R-MC

Ashland, Va. - Fresh off a 2-0 season-opening win over Guilford on Friday, the Battling Bishop women's soccer team was back in action on Saturday at Randolph-Macon, suffering its first defeat of the season by a 1-0 score to a talented Yellow Jacket squad. Bishop junior Vanessa Batchelor kept her team in the match by making six saves on the day, five of which came in the second half.

The two teams fought to a scoreless tie at the break, with each squad managing just one shot-on-goal. Unfortunately, the Yellow Jackets would get of 15 shots in the final period, with the gamewinner coming in the 75th minute.

The Bishops (1-1) will now break for six days before returning to action at home next Saturday, September 6th versus Randolph College. The match is slated for a 2:30pm start at Scalf Field.
