Raleigh, N.C. / Danville, Va. - Bishop keeper Ashley Major tallied a pair of shutouts, while Lauren Seegel and Victoria Burkhart netted gamewinning goals to lift their NCWC women's soccer team to a pair of 1-0 USA South wins this weekend at Meredith and Averett, respectively.

At Meredith on Saturday, the Bishops held a 13-7 advantage in shots but struggled to find the back of the next due to the solid play of MC keeper Jaisa Loch, who racked up eight saves on the day. In the 67th minute, however, NCWC junior Stephanie Stallings found Seegel in the box for the evenual gamewinner.

Major finished with four saves on the day, including one in the final minutes that sealed the victory.

Sunday's game at Averett mirrored Saturday's as Wesleyan held a 10-5 edge in shots. Burkhart got the Bishops on the board just after the break, blasting a free kick from 20 yards past Cougar goalie Bailee Brown at the 49:46 mark.

Major made the lead stand up, making the lone save needed to secure her fourth shutout of the season.

The Bishops (5-2-1, 4-1 USA South) continue conference play next Saturday and Sunday at Scalf Field when NCWC hosts Greensboro and William Peace. Both matches are slated for 2:00pm starts.
