Raleigh, N.C. - The Battling Bishop women's soccer team saw its 2017 season come to an end on Saturday in the quarterfinal round of the USA South Conference Tournament with a tough 1-0 loss at Meredith College in Raleigh. The Angels tallied the lone goal of the match in the 55th minute.

The 6th-seeded Bishops gave 2nd-seeded Meredith all they could handle in the first half, out-shooting the Angels 15-9 and putting ten shots on frame. MC keeper Jaisa Loch turned away all ten attempts, while NCWC goalie Ashley Major made four stops of her own to send the two teams into the break scoreless.

Meredith's defense managed to hold Wesleyan to just seven shots in the second period and only one shot-on-goal, which Loch stopped to secure the shutout with 11 total saves. Major saved three shots in the second half for seven saves in the match, but it was Jessica Wallace's low 15-yarder at the 54:18 mark that provided the difference in the match when it slipped past Major to the right.

Overall, Wesleyan finished with a 22-18 edge in shots and 11-8 advantage in shots-on-goal. The match marked Meredith's second 1-0 win over the Bishops this season.

NCWC finishes the season with a 6-11-1 mark, which included eight 1-goal losses. The Bishops also say farewell to 12 talented seniors who will be missed both on and off the field.
