Lady Bishops' Comeback bid falls short at Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan women's soccer team rallied late, but fell 3-2 on the road at conference foe Salem College on Saturday afternoon.

Salem got off to a quick lead scoring in the first 6 minutes to lead 1-0 before adding another before the half and take a 2-0 advantage into the break.

Wesleyan then came out strong in the second half outshooting the Spirits 15-5 and scoring two goals to tie the match at 2 with 10 minutes to play.

Unfortunately, Salem would score the winning goal and go on to take the match 3-2.

Leading in goals for the Bishops were senior forwards Maggie Rankin and Jordan Forbess while sophomore goalkeeper Alicia Jacobs made 7 saves on 10 shots.

Wesleyan falls to 3-5-1 overall and 1-2 in the conference with the loss while Salem improves to 5-7 overall and 2-1 in the USA South. The Bishops will return to action on Tuesday afternoon to host Greensboro College at 4 PM.
