GREENSBORO, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's soccer team fell short 1-0 at Greensboro College Sunday in their quest to qualify for the upcoming USA South tournament. With the win, the Lady Pride now take the 5th and final East seed in the tournament next week.
The first half was scoreless over the first 40 minutes until GC got on the board in the 43rd minute to take the lead as well as a 7-3 shot count into the break. Wesleyan senior goalkeeper Alicia Jacobs then made a crucial save on a GC penalty kick late in the second half to keep the Bishops in it, but unfortunately, the ladies could not come up with the tying goal in falling 1-0.
Jacobs finished the day making 5 saves on 6 shots on goal while senior defender Emily Sullivan led with two shots as the Bishops finished wih 7 total shots and four on goal. Greensboro improves to 3-4-2 in the division, good for 11 points, and 5-9-3 overall.
The Bishops fall to 5-10-1 with the loss and 3-6 in the East Division (9 points) and will next finish out their season with a road game at Johnson & Wales on Wednesday in Charlotte at 5 PM.

After the completion of the regular season today, the seeding for the 2021 USA South Women's Soccer Tournament has been determined. The tournament consists of the top-six teams each division in the Conference and is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, October 26 with first round contests hosted by the divisional fourth seeds.
The top-three divisional seeds receive first round byes and will compete in the quarterfinals on Saturday, October 30. The semifinal and championship games will be played at the site of the highest remaining divisional seed after quarterfinal round play on Friday and Saturday, November 5 and 6. If the highest-remaining divisional seeds are the same seed, the tournament semifinals and final will head to the East representative due to a predetermined rotation.
Seeding for the tournament is determined by a point system. Each Conference win is equal to three points while each Conference tie is equal to one point.
