Ferrum, Va. / Staunton, Va. - The NCWC women's tennis team posted a pair of 9-0 victories on Thursday and Friday, sweeping Ferrum College and Mary Baldwin University in USA South action on the road. With the victories, the Battling Bishops improve to 8-2 overall and remain perfect in conference play at 6-0.

At Ferrum on Thursday, the duos of Florencia Sorrentino/Louise Hovhammer (8-1), Talitha Rowan/Stephany Barbera (8-3), and Nicole Halabi/Ana Diaz (8-1) gave Wesleyan a 3-0 lead by cruising to a doubles sweep. Those same six players were winners in singles play, with the #2 through #6 seeds all winning in straights.

The Panthers' lone chance at a point came at the top seed, but Sorrentino overcame a 7-6 (4-7) loss in the first set to take sets two and three by 6-3 and 10-6 scores.

Versus Baldwin on Friday, the Bishops again won in dominating fashion to extend their current win streak to seven straight.

Wesleyan will now prepare for a key league match at Methodist University on Wednesday at 3:00pm. The Bishops downed the Monarchs 5-4 two weeks ago in Rocky Mount, with their upcoming tilt counting towards their conference slate. Wesleyan and Methodist are the lone undefeated teams in the league's East Division so a share of the USA South Regular Season Championship will be on the line.
