GENEVA, OH - NC Wesleyan freshman sprinter Mariah Brooks was named a Second Team All-American on Friday as she finished 11th overall out of 22 in the 100 Meters at the NCAA Div. III Outdoor Track & Field Championships from the University of Mount Union in Ohio.

Brooks needed to finish in the top 9 to qualify for Saturday's final, but her time of 11.996 seconds fell just short of the 11.978 mark that she needed to make the finals.

"Mariah has had an outstanding season and has accomplished a lot in such little time," commented head coach Bill Dunn. "Winning The USA South and breaking the conference record in the 100 meter, 200 meter and 4x100 meter relay is outstanding in itself. Mariah has so much more to offer the sport."

"We had a short season where we did not get to build up the base she needed and get races under her belt. I take responsibility for Mariah ultimately not bringing home the gold for NC Wesleyan. Next year with key additions and NC Wesleyan adding indoor track, the sky is the limit."

Isabelle Hogue of Nebraska Wesleyan ended up winning the 100 meter race in a time of 11.57 seconds on Saturday.

Brooks set the USA South conference record with a time of 11.91 seconds in the 100 meters back in April as she was named Rookie of the Year.
