Volleyball Falls in 4 sets to Emory & Henry

EMORY, Va. - The N.C. Wesleyan College volleyball team dropped their last non-conference match of the season on Thursday evening falling in four sets on the road at Emory & Henry College.

Emory won the first 2 sets by the identical score of 25-18 before the Battling Bishops rallied to win the third set 27-25. However, EHC then closed out the match in the fourth set 25-12 to take the victory.

EHC came out firing as they averaged over 15 kills per set and recorded 63 in the match while Wesleyan totaled 31 kills, but could not keep up with the Wasp firepower.

Outside Hitters Callie Cline and Autumn Spence led the Bishops with 7 kills apiece while Cline also led the way with 16 digs. Junior middle Hannah Thrasher then had the best hitting percentage of the night at .385 with 5 kills and no errors along with 3 blocks, 2 aces, and an assist while fellow middle, freshman Lauren Weaver also added 6 kills.

Defensively, junior Hannah Huls registered 14 digs with 3 aces and a kill while freshman libero Devin Lassiter had 15 digs, 4 assists, and an ace.

Wesleyan falls to 8-22 overall while EHC improves to 6-20.

The Bishops will next be in action when they return home on Sunday afternoon to close out their regular season by hosting a USA South tri-match with Mary Baldwin and Pfeiffer at Noon.
