Bishops Split Conference Tri-Match in Greensboro

NCWU vs. Greensboro College, 0-3 

The NCWU Volleyball Team traveled to Greensboro on Friday for two conference matches. The first match against the Greensboro College Pride was another close three-setter, a Bishop loss 20-25, 22-25, and 24-26.  

NC Wesleyan's offensive effort was led by Katie Fulton's 11 kills. Senior outside hitter Bijou Patel tallied 5 kills. Setter Sloan Martin and middles Emily Foraker and Ludmila Borges each added 4 kills. Martin also earned 24 assists for the Bishops.  

Martin led the Bishop defense with 10 digs, followed by libero Barrett Davis with 9 digs. Senior Kira Kristjanson and first-year Fulton each added 8 digs. This was not enough to stop the Pride's offense, who outhit the Bishops by 0.023. 

 

NCWU vs. Pfeiffer University, 3-1 

The second conference matchup of the weekend was against the Pfeiffer University Falcons. The Bishops earned their first conference win, defeating the Falcons 25-17, 25-23, 14-25, and 27-25.  

Fifth-year senior Bijou Patel led the offense with 13 kills on the outside, followed by senior Aubrey Nicholson with 10 kills. Martin, Borges, and Fulton each added 9 kills. Combining with Foraker's 8 kills in the middle and Martin's 43 assists, the Bishops slightly outhit the Falcons.  

The Bishops' scrappy defensive effort was led by fifth-year libero Barrett Davis, who earned a career-high of 26 digs. Martin added 12 digs, followed by Kristjanson's 8 digs. 

NCWU sits at 1-2 in conference play and will host the Monarchs of Methodist University at 7 PM on Tuesday.
