Bishops Defeated by Methodist University Monarchs 1-3

The NC Wesleyan Volleyball Team hosted the Methodist University Monarchs Tuesday night for another conference matchup. The Bishops played a close four-setter, losing 20-25, 25-21, 23-25, and 24-26.  

The Bishop offense struggled, powering through with 52 total kills. Fifth-year Bijou Patel led the offense with 13 kills on the outside. First-years Ludmila Borges and Katie Fulton earned a matching 11 kills each. Middle Emily Foraker and setter Sloan Martin followed with 7 kills each, fueled by Martin's 34 assists.  

Wesleyan's defense produced another scrappy showing. Libero Barrett Davis and Martin each bagged 20 digs. Senior Kira Kristjanson added 14 digs, followed by Fulton with 10 digs. Borges added 3 solo blocks.  

This 78-dig showing was not enough to outplay the Monarchs, who outhit the Bishops by 0.07.

NCWesleyan moves to 1-3 in conference play. The Bishops will host Mid-Atlantic Christian University in the Everett Gymnasium for a non-conference match on Thursday at 6:00pm, before traveling to Raleigh on Saturday for conference play.
