Wesleyan Runners Open Season at Monarch Cross Country Classic

Fayetteville, N.C. - Wesleyan's cross country team opened its 2016 season on Saturday at the Monarch XC Classic hosted by Methodist University. Sophomore Sarah Grossman paced NCWC in the 6K event, cracking the 35-minute mark and finishing 39th among 59 runners, 28th among scorers.

Finishing just 22 seconds and two places behind Grossman was sophomore Hannah Ivester with a 6K time of 35:22. Running in their first collegiate meets, Jade' Jordan (40:22), Maria Castillo (41:12), and Jessica Winslow (43:03) rounded out Wesleyan's scorers.

As a team, the Bishops finished 7th overall while host Methodist took top team honors. Francis Marion's Emma Driggers won individually, clocking in at 26:26.
