Bishop Cross Country Competes at Greensboro Invitational

Pleasant Garden, N.C. - N.C. Wesleyan's cross country team was back in action on Saturday at the Greensboro Invitational held at Hagan Stone Park. Sophomore Sarah Grossman again paced the Bishops with a time of 28:15 in the 5K event, which featured 124 runners among 14 teams.

Running her first 5K race of the season, Grossman was the lone Bishop to finish with a sub-30 time, which was 67th among scorers. Freshman Maria Castillo finished in 31:56, followed by sophomore Jade' Jordan at 34:05. Senior Leigh Hales, who was competing in her first event of the season, was fourth for NCWC -- 38 seconds ahead of freshman teammate Jessica Winslow at 36:26.

Wesleyan finished 14th overall as a team, with Division I High Point University earning top honors. UNC's Emma Astrike-Davis finished first with a time of 18:59.
