Women's XC Places 16th at High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C.- The NC Wesleyan College women's cross country team placed 16th out of 18 mostly D1 teams at the VertKross Invitational hosted by High Point University on Friday.

Famke Heinst of High Point won the individual race in a time of 17:35 while Appalachian St. won the team title. Wesleyan scored 520 points outracing conference rival Peace and D2 Claflin (S.C.).

Olivia Pittman paced the Lady Bishops by finishing first on the team and 141st overall in a time of 26:15.2 while senior Sarah Grossman came in right behind her in 26:15.8. Alyssa Donaldson then came next on the team in 27:20 while freshman Michelle Sackney-Ansah and senior Hannah Ivester finished the scoring for the Bishops coming in back to back places in 30:45 and 31:20 respectively.

Running as individuals included sophomores Hana Fundaika and Deja Hartman in 31:55 and 38:34 in the 5K as well.

The Ladies are next in action on October 26 in the USA South Conference meet in Maryville, Tenn.
