Women's XC Places 4th at Monarch Invite

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's cross country team finished 4th out of 8 teams at the 5th annual Monarch XC Classic hosted by Methodist on Saturday. 

D-2 Fayetteville St. won the 6K (3.7 miles) meet followed by D2 Francis Marion in second while Johnson & Wales came in third with 73 points. The Lady Bishops were then in 4th with 93 points followed by William Peace in 5th and Central Carolina in 6th and Methodist in 7th and St. Andrews in 8th.

Leading the way for Wesleyan on this day was junior Snejana Spinache in 9th place overall, but 2nd among D-3 runners with a time of 28:25. She was then followed by freshman Anna Ray in 17th in 30:26. Coming in after her was junior Teanna Bellamy in 23rd with a time of 31:41.

Then, a trio of Lady Bishops followed from 29th-31st place with junior Nagisa Ogahara, freshman Mariah brooks, and senior Michelle Sackey-Ansah all coming in with times between 33:29 and 34:00. Sophomore Angelica Contreras then finished 41st in 35:50 while freshman Naomi Pilapil was 44th in 40:20.

The women will have a weekend off before getting back to action on Sept. 25 with a meet in Greensboro.
