Women's XC Finish 12th at NY 5K

BETHPAGE, N.Y. - The NC Wesleyan College women's cross country team competed in the Golden Eagle 5K In New York on Sunday and finished 12th out of 20 official teams in the meet. 

Wesleyan was the only southern team to compete and finished with 322 points while having two ladies finish in the top 50 of the 150-person race. 

Leading the Lady Bishops was junior Teanna Bellamy coming in 44th overall with a time of 23:09 while fellow junior teammate Snejana Spinache was 48th in 23:23.

Freshman Mariah Brooks then finished 3rd for the Bishops and 88th overall in a time of 26:55 while sophomores Angelica Contreras and Naomi Pilapil finished it up for NCWC in 105th and 106th place, both finishing with a time of 28:19.

The winning time was 18:41 by a runner from St. Thomas Aquinas.  

The Lady Bishops will return to the course on Saturday when they head over to Greenville to compete in the nearby ECU Invitational.
