Raleigh, NC -- William Peace University women's basketball will host NC Wesleyan on Friday, January 22nd before heading to Rocky Mount on the 24th. The Pacers are currently 2-0 after sweeping Averett University, while NC Wesleyan is 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference.Â
The Battling Bishops went 19-6 overall and 14-2 in the conference in 2019-20, falling to Maryville College in the quarterfinals of the USA South Tournament. They opened conference play against Mary Baldwin with two wins (89-74 and 91-87 OT). Senior Cydney Nichols led the team in both wins, tallying a total of 44 points.Â
The Pacers had several key performers in their series against the Cougars. Lauryn Cross tallied a career-high 38 points in the January 15th victory (101-55). Jaymesha Sanders led the team defensively with 17 rebounds on January 15th, while Maria DeVincenzo tallied 17 points and 9 rebounds on the January 17th win (78-61).

Historically, the Pacers are 7-9 against the Battling Bishops as they currently hold a 4 game winning streak. In 2019-20, WPU went 2-0 with a 77-70 win on January 25th and a 73-66 win on January 8th. Jaymesha Sanders was instrumental in the January 8th win as she recorded 25 points, while Lauryn Cross and Mariah Partin each added 12.Â
